About the NRD
Board of Directors
The NRD is governed by 19 locally-elected directors from nine subdistricts.
Staff
The NRD has 16 staff members in its main office in Wahoo and support staff in four county NRCS offices.
District Map
The Lower Platte North NRD encompasses parts of seven counties in eastcentral Nebraska. There are 28 communities and approximately 1,031,000 acres of land within the district boundaries.
Responsibilities
Under state statute, the NRD is charged with 12 areas of responsiblity relating to natural resources.
History
The NRD system, based on watershed boundaries, was created in 1972 and is unique in the nation.
Funding & Budget
The NRD receives its funding from a combination of local property taxes, state funds, and grants from a variety of sources.
