Lake Wanahoo Makes National Top 100 List for Family-Friendly Fishing & Boating
Lake Wanahoo State Recreation Area, one mile north of Wahoo, was named one of the top 100 family-friendly fishing and boating lakes in the nation for 2015 by the Recreation Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF).
Wanahoo placed #47 on the list, which is compiled annually by RBFF. Three other Nebraska lakes also made the list: Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area at #14, Harlan County Reservoir at #28, and Two Rivers State Recreation Area at #73. Florida’s Everglades National Park took the top spot on the list.
RBFF is a non-profit organization dedicated to growing participation in fishing, boating and aquatic stewardship. The foundation operates the popular takemefishing.org website.
Lake Wanahoo opened to the public in 2012 and is owned by the Lower Platte North NRD. Its recreation facilities are operated by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
